1 Million Hours - Can You Help?

BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra have launched the #1millionhours campaign to encourage people to get involved and volunteer your time. The campaign is a year long initiative which we welcome.

We have a range of volunteering oppotunities available and welcome any support you can give to us. Each role has a huge impact on people's lives and invite you to be a part of that.

Volunteering Roles

A befriender is very helpful because you can talk to them about things and it will not go any further. It also helps you when you are a bit down and they are there to help to lift your mood. My befriender is very good and a lovely thoughtful person, she understands me and helps me in times of need. She is always there if I feel down or have a problem

- Paul

We have a variety of interesting and rewarding services which you can get involved with. Everybody is unique and has something individual to offer. We will endeavour to match your particular skills and interests to a role that will suit you best.

We are always looking for volunteers for the following:

  • Becoming a trustee – trustees have a wide variety of roles and tasks and are a vital part of our organisation.
  • Befriending someone who is isolated or lonely.
  • Helping facilitate groups and training opportunities.
  • Being a Peer Support Volunteer
  • Administration in our busy offices

From time to time we also sometimes require:

  • Help updating our website
  • Organisation and help at events
  • Research for new projects

If you think you might be interested in volunteering with us at Mind in West Essex, or would like more information or an application form please email [email protected] or phone 01279 421308.
